Johnston Memorial Hospital – Comprehensive Cancer Center

Challenge

Johnston Memorial Hospital secured a Certificate of Public Need in 2004 for a new Linear Accelerator to grow its comprehensive cancer services.  JMH sought to implement a strategic initiative to secure a new greenfield site for the Cancer Center and other future healthcare facilities, and selected RTG as their partner in site selection and project development.

Our Approach

Working in partnership with the hospital board and its executive team, RTG guided the hospital in identifying and negotiating for a new 40 acre site and developed a comprehensive feasibility analysis for development, construction and financing of the project. Currently, the project is under construction with RTG serving as the developer and owner with a lease arrangement back to the hospital.

Success

Due to the complexities of the Certificate of Public Need application, the project required a fast track schedule to achieve specific deadlines.  With a contractor and architect engaged from the early stages of the project, the building schedule has been successfully managed and RTG anticipates an opening date of Summer 2007.
