Since the formation of Mountain States Health Alliance (MSHA) in 1998, RTG has served as MSHA’s real estate advisor. Our experience with MSHA includes the full array of RTG services, including strategic real estate planning, MOB development services, portfolio & property management, acquisition / disposition strategies, fair market value analyses and related advisory services.
In conjunction with MSHA’s acquisition of Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA, RTG provided site selection services for a replacement hospital campus and served as the owner / developer for supporting ambulatory facilities, including a 55,000 square foot comprehensive cancer center and 110,000 square foot medical office building. The cancer center project required a two-phase construction process in order meet a CON deadline for radiation oncology and linear accelerator services. The overall campus development also required substantial infrastructure planning and improvements to be performed in conjunction with the city, county and local utility jurisdictions. Infrastructure improvements included highway widening and other traffic management measurements, as well as significant utility improvements including redundant power supply and water / sewer infrastructure to support the new campus in a growing rural area. Upon completion, RTG also provided operational start-up and property management services for both facilities.
MSHA recently merged with Wellmont Health System to form Ballad Health, a 21-hospital health system serving northeast TN and Southwest Virginia. RTG provides on-going portfolio and property management services for the combined system’s approximately 3 million square foot ambulatory portfolio.
